DESCRIPTION:Awakening the Teachers Workshop\n\n“Education is the manifestation of the perfection already in man.” – Swami Vivekananda \nIt’s not just the students who are there to learn\, a teacher also keeps learning throughout his/her teaching journey. Teachers of Grades 1 and 2 of DPS\, GBN got an opportunity to attend an innovative\, fruitful\, and informative workshop based on ‘Awakening the Teachers’ organized by Rama Krishna Mission\, Gurugram on Saturday\, April 6\, 2024. The main focus of this workshop was to transform the teachers as facilitators to inculcate values and ethos in the children of the primary age group. The need to provide an environment where teachers motivate their students to speak freely\, teachers allow free discussion without judgement\, and a child is free to express himself/herself without any fear of criticism or failure was emphasized during the workshop. The programme was based on four value pillars- Sharing and Caring\, Being Respectful\, Facing Challenges\, and Doing Our Best -to make students socially responsible and socially aware. The programme also depended upon four-pronged approaches: Explore\, Find\, Choose\, and Adopt. The workshop followed the ideas and education of Swami Vivekananda and provided thoughtful learning to everyone.

DESCRIPTION:Junior School Student Council Selection (2024-25)\n\nLeadership skills are the strengths and abilities that an individual demonstrate\, which helps and guides them towards achieving their goals. Leadership traits includes honesty\, commitment\, confidence and creativity. The School believes to give ample opportunities to its students and thus the Student Council conducted the Elections in the month of April. Many rounds were conducted such as Filling of the Nomination form\, Interview with Principal ma’am and Coordinator ma’am (III-V)\, Campaigning and Voting. With great zeal and enthusiasm\, Students of Grade 5 casted their votes and elected their leaders for the session 2024-25. The Election process created awareness about the elections\, voting\, democracy\, and the rights and duties of a good citizen. \nThe results are as follows- \nJunior Head Boy : Mr Palash Kaundal\, won by 107 votes \nJunior Head Girl: Ms Titeeksha Upadhyaya\, won by 89 votes.

DESCRIPTION:Earth Day\n\n“Earth Day should encourage us to reflect on what we are doing to make our planet a more sustainable and liveable place”     – Scott Peters                                          \nThe online Earth Day celebration at DPS-GBN was a resounding success. Held on April 22\, 2024\, it fostered a sense of environmental consciousness and responsibility among the young learners of Grades Nursery\, K1 and K2. Array of creative online activities were organised whereas tiny tots from Grade Nursery designed recycled paper bags\, children from K1 created beautiful Earth Day craft and did plantation\, followed by the students of K2 wholeheartedly indulged themselves by making seed bombs etc\, were the highlights of the celebration. Our children gained a deeper appreciation for the Earth and the importance of preserving its beauty for future generations. They were addressed and reiterated by the importance of 3 R’s- Reduce\, Reuse and Recycle. This served as one more leaf to the school’s dedication of nurturing not only young minds but also an affection for the planet we call as home for all. The goal was to celebrate sensitivity towards our Mother Earth and create a memorable experience for our children\, fostering a playful and light-hearted atmosphere that left lasting smiles on both the kids and their teachers even parents too.

Mother Earth provides us with priceless inspiring moments and we at DPS\, GBN captured a few moments with the children on this ‘Earth Day’ to appreciate the beauty of our planet and the magic it brings to our lives every day. \nKeeping the theme in mind\, ‘Planet vs. Plastics’\, which aims to raise awareness of the harms of plastic pollution for human and planetary health\, Students enjoyed a plethora of activities like Poster Making\, Quiz\, Videos\, etc\, to understand about it better. Learning is an ever-evolving journey that enriches our understanding and fuels our curiosity\, thus\, students enjoyed learning about ‘Sustainability’\, which means using natural products and energy in a way that does not harm the environment and ‘Green footprints’\, which are like little actions we take to help the environment like turning off lights when we leave a room\, recycling our trash\, or planting trees. These actions show that we care about our planet and want to keep it clean and healthy. So\, Dipsites took a pledge and are ready to do things that are good for the nature!

These activities aimed to educate them about the problems faced by the Earth and make them aware of SDG- 12 ‘Responsible Consumption and Production’\, SDG – 14 ‘Life Below Water’ and SDG-15 ‘Life on Land’.

DESCRIPTION:Indo-German Student Exchange Programme- 2024\n\n“Knowledge of languages is the doorway to wisdom.” ― Roger Bacon \nIndo-German Student Exchange Conducted Successfully at DPS\, GBN \nA foreign language is considered as the key to growth and understanding the globally diverse world. DPS\, GBN students study foreign languages to gain a better understanding of varied cultures and unfamiliar customs of the world. \nCultural Exchange Programmes not only propel students to understand the diversity of the country\, but also make them learn how to co-exist and feel compassion for different communities around. \n  \n11 students and 2 mentors from German International School Dubai visited DPS\, GBN under a reciprocal Student Exchange Programme from April 16- April 23\, 2024. It was a unique opportunity for them to observe Indian culture closely. \nThe German students’ trips to Jaipur\, Agra and Delhi offered them a rich immersion in Indian culture and history. Exploring landmarks like Amber Fort and the Taj Mahal made a lasting impression on their visit to our country. The colourful attires and lip smacking delicacies added to the attractions. \nThe trip to Jaipur was successful in familiarising the German students with the rich\, technicolour culture of India and was also a source of unbridled felicity. \nEffectively capturing the vivacious essence of Rajasthani culture\, Chokhi Dhani provided a unique experience to the visitors. Hundreds of candles illuminate the scene with their impalpable luminescence and the various traditional activities like puppet-shows\, folk dances etc made it a worthwhile experience. \nThe Exchange Programme marked the continuation of a long-lasting friendship across continents. This meticulously crafted programme blended educational experience with fun and entertainment. Every year\, it fosters enduring friendships among student partners\, giving a fresh impetus to the school’s endeavour to expand its exchange base and give the students an opportunity to explore new parts of the world.

The soulful rendition by the School Choir charmed everyone\, while the talented dancers drew a heartening applause with their graceful presentation. To highlight the importance of reading to our budding nation DPS GBN organized a special week Book Week- Readathon for grade 1 and 2 from May 7\, 2024 to May 9\, 2024. \nOn the first day\, we celebrated birthday to commemorate the eminent Bengali Poet ‘Sri Rabindranath Tagore’ and telling children about his life\, journey\, influential writings and literacy contribution in English. On next day of Book Week- Readathon\, different story books were given to children to nurture the habit of reading\, oratory abilities and critical writings. The week concluded with designing of a book review form for the story they pleased reading. It provided hands-on experiences which resulted in reading and writing proficiency of the children.

The children thoroughly enjoyed the activities and treats provided\, creating lasting memories of a fantastic summer celebration.

DESCRIPTION:Masked Marvels\n\nAt DPS GBN\, we believe in cultivating environmental awareness. In line with this vision\, students of grade 2 indulged themselves in mask making activity under the Sustainable Development Goal 15 (Life On Land) on May 7\, 2024. Children were encouraged about the Save the Tiger campaign. They understood how tigers are important for ecological balance. The activity served as an area about the threats of climate change on tigers and proposed imbalance it is creating. They also came to know about the positive and visible outcome of this campaign which really saved them from becoming extinct animal. It empowered students to become advocates for the change within our communities.

Goodrich \n  \nShriyash Aditya of IX H got the opportunity to live his dream to experience the process and techniques behind the magic created by the eminent scientist at Indian Space Research Organization as he was amongst the top 100 Students across India who had qualified Science Promotion Orient Test conducted by Vikram Sarabhai Science Foundation and earned the Sarabhai Younglings Internship Program 2024 conducted from June 14 to June 17\, 2024. \nThe 4-days internship focused on: \n– Destination Visit to ISRO Telemetry Tracking and Command Centre. \n– Visit to the museum of Hindustan Aeronautical Limited to observe the journey through India’s six decades of aviation growth. \n-Visit to Vishwesharayya Industrial and Technological Museum to experience the science journey into multidisciplinary science\, emerging technology in the service of mankind. \n-Planetarium visit – A peek into the dawn of the universe \n– Hands-on Session Stand: Aerospace Modelling conducted by: IIT Madras RTBI Incubation Unit \nShriyash received his SPOT-100 medal and Internship Certificate from Ms Suchitra Shyjinth\, Director Vikram Sarabhai Science Foundation. \nThis internship would be a driving force for Shriyash to fulfill his future aims\, wishing him all the very best. \n

DESCRIPTION:Mystical Wand\n\n“Magic is the brush that paints the unseen\, the instrument that plays the silent chords of amazement” – Jon Finch \nMagic is something that is liked by all age groups especially by the little kids.  To provide them some relaxing and refreshing moments away from the regular classroom teaching\, a Magic Show was organized for our students on July 12\,2024. While entering into the world of magic our tiny-tots were amazed to see the magician donning a black hat with a magic wand.  They felt exhilarated to see a number of staged magic tricks that were seemingly impossible for them to believe.  The magician used natural and known objects to make the tricks real and interesting and involved the children also while performing them that proved a hands-on experience for them. He displayed lot of tricks used by rope\, made \nthings disappear in the air and flew a piece of cloth. He produced pigeon out of his hat. Apparently\, he performed many more such surprising tricks which made the students to get engrossed into the show. It was very thrilling and fascinating to the students. Entirely it was an amusing and sensational show by the magician. However\, that left lasting smiles on both the kids and their teachers.

This unique activity was designed to provide children with an exciting baking experience while imparting valuable skills and knowledge. They learned baking basics\, made cupcakes under the guidance of teachers\, and practiced kitchen safety. Throughout the event\, children also engaged in activities that enhanced their gross motor skills\, such as mixing batter and decorating Cupcake. After sampling and sharing their creations\, the children wrapped up the day with happy memories and valuable skills.

It’s a way of life.” – Anonymous\nOn July 16\, 2024\, the enthusiastic young learners of Grade K2 embraced the SDG-13 initiative\, which aimed to fight against climate change and safeguard our planet. This initiative was supported by the ‘Green Cycle Glory’ activity\, which encouraged recycling to protect the environment. \nChildren made can planters\, CD wind spinners\, paper plate earth models\, paper roll binoculars\, and newspaper hats from recycled materials. They proudly displayed their work and talked about why recycling is important for nature and future generations. The joy and enthusiasm of the children reflected a hopeful future where sustainability is effortlessly ingrained in our daily lives. This initiative not only fostered creativity but also instilled environmental consciousness at a young age. Through such initiatives\, we can inspire a generation that values and actively participates in sustainable practices\, ensuring a greener\, healthier world for all.

DESCRIPTION:RVCE Capture The Flag\n\nOur star student\, Amritansh Sati from class X-B showcased his exceptional talent in RVCE CAPTURE THE FLAG (a much-sought after event in the field of cyber security) hosted by RV College of Engineering\, YCF Team and IIT BOMBAY. \nStarting with the qualifiers on 8th June he competed against over 2000 participants and made it to finals on 22nd June in Bangalore. Amritansh the youngest contender in the competition\, dazzled everyone with his skills and secured 6th position. He won a cash prize of 10\,000 from IIT Bombay.

It’s like a stepping-stone to inculcate the attitude of hard work\, and to achieve higher goals in life. Students of DPS\, GBN participated in the Satyam Inter School Swimming Championship organized by Delhi World Public School\, Greater Noida. Virat Aryan of Grade 5H secured the First postion in the events ’50 meter Freestyle’\, ’50 meter Backstroke’\, and ‘4×50 meter Freestyle Relay’. Devansh Sharma of Grade 5B secured the First position in the events ‘4×50 meter Freestyle Relay’ and ’50 meter Breaststroke’\, and also earned the Second position in the ‘100 meter Freestyle’ event. Viraj Kochhar of Grade 5A secured the First position in the event ‘4×50 meter Freestyle Relay’. This Competition offered a platform for our young swimmers to showcase their skills and learn fair play. Their dedication\, discipline\, and hard work have brought immense pride to our School.

Mr Tarit Prakash\, Psephologist\, joined as the Guest of Honour. Students represented six Committees as delegates that debated on critical issues: AIPPM on freedom of speech\, Lok Sabha on Electoral Bonds\, Stakeholder Meet on studying/work abroad trends\, BCCI on ICC tournament performance of players in knock-out matches\, Niti Aayog on Viksit Bharat@2047\, and the International Press covered the discussions. The conference promoted leadership\, critical thinking\, and innovative ideas\, thanks to the guidance of Principal\, Ms Supriti Chauhan and the dedicated efforts of the Senior School teachers who ensured its success. \n
