About DPS Society

Mr. BK Chaturvedi, formerly the Vice Chairman of The Delhi Public School Society (DPSS) and a long-standing Member, assumed the charge of the Chairman of The DPS Society effective from August 1, 2023.

A distinguished former IAS Officer (UP Cadre – 1966), Mr. Chaturvedi ascended to the esteemed position of the Cabinet Secretary to the Government of India during his illustrious five-decade career. Recognized for his exceptional contributions to the Public Administration, he was honoured with the Padma Bhushan by the Hon’ble President of India in 2010. Throughout his eminent tenure, he also served as a Member of the Planning Commission and the 13th Finance Commission of the Government of India.

Having earned a Master's Degree in Physics from Allahabad University, Mr. Chaturvedi pursued Advanced Studies in Public Administration at the University of Manchester (UK). Following his entry into the Civil Services (UP Cadre), he held various pivotal roles including the Secretary in the Ministries of Human Resources Development, Petroleum and Natural Gas and the Finance; Additional Secretary & Development Commissioner, Ministry of Textiles; Special Secretary (Insurance & External Finance), Ministry of Finance; Secretary, Department of Women and Child Development. Executive Director of the Trade Development Authority and the Chairman of the State Trading Corporation of India. Noteworthy economic reforms, such as, the liberalization of the Insurance Sector and deregulation of the Oil Sector, were implemented under his leadership, alongside the establishment of the Nation's inaugural Liquefied Natural Gas Terminal. Mr Chaturvedi has represented India in global negotiations on oil, bilateral trade and energy matters and has contributed as a Member of the Boards of UNICEF and UNDP.

A learned Academician, Mr. Chaturvedi has authored two books and provided extensive contributions to National and International journals, encompassing disciplines, such as, Planning, Energy, Transport and Public Administration.

Manifesting discerning Leadership and keen perceptiveness, Mr. Chaturvedi presently directs the trajectory of The DPS Society.

Envisioned in 1949, the Delhi Public School Society (DPSS) stands as a non-profit, non-proprietary, and private educational organization. Under the diligent management of DPSS in New Delhi, Delhi Public Schools (DPS) have emerged as India's premier educational institutions. The first institution, known today as DPS Mathura Road, was established within the dignified premises of the President's Estate in New Delhi. Over the span of six decades, the Delhi Public School Society has cultivated a network of schools across India and expanded its reach to various corners of the world, solidifying its position as one of the largest chains of schools. With branches in major cities across India and in countries like Indonesia, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, UAE, Uganda, and more, the global network comprises approximately 208 English medium, co-educational, and secular schools, offering education from Pre-Nursery/Nursery to Class XII. However, the DPS Family transcends beyond a mere compilation of institutions, individuals, and factual details. It embodies a profound network of cherished values, harmonious systems, and meaningful relationships, symbolizing its transcontinental identity.
