Mega Earthquake Evacuation Drill

Delhi Public School, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Noida successfully participated in the ‘Mega School Earthquake Evacuation Drill’ conducted under the guidance of the Disaster Management Cell, Noida on April 27, 2017 from 11 am to 12 noon. We are among the 101 Schools across Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway of Gautam Buddh Nagar district, which participated in this massive awareness drive. 700 students and 70 teachers and staff of classes VI-XII participated in the event.

During the drill, the focus was on the safe evacuation of students from the classrooms in the scenario that an earthquake of Richter 6.5 scale has struck during school hours. This was a unique and first of its kind School Evacuation Drill on such a large scale, conducted in the country and probably around the world as well.

Students carefully followed the instructions given during the Mock drills which were conducted in the previous weeks. A resource person from NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) was sent by DM Cell to professionally train and guide children for such emergency situations. Evacuation plan was explained to the children with do’s and don’ts during the Earthquake. Rescue team for emergency situation was also constituted. The Principal Ms. Indira Kohli thanked the resource person for their valuable inputs and congratulated Ms. Monika Sharma and team for successfully conducting the drill.
